What we need more of is...

..... Okay, you finish that phrase. Andy and I (and many of our friends and family) finish it this way.

In the course of breakfast conversation this morning, something called this phrase to mind, so I uttered it.

Elise took one look at me, yawning and in my PJs, and said,

"Mommy, you don't need more science. You need more coffee!!"

It continues to be disconcerting that she has us this well figured out. And that she looks so comfortable carrying a purse. And that she continues to insist on the presence of an adult when she needs to use the toilet.

What I need to know is, every time you are out in public, does Elise insist she "HAS to go" and then spend copius amounts of time checking out the decor and fixtures of the ladies room before she remembers why she is there? And does she come back from the ladies rooms in fancy restaurants and give everyone at the table a detailed description of said facility? As in, "You should see the blue sink and the gold faucets! And they have long mirrors and flowers in there--and fancy chairs to sit on." Even in the most modest of facilities, Elise's very own mother would come back and announce whether she had to use paper towels or a "hair blower" to dry her hands. No sympathy from this quarter. :-)

Mwahahahahaha!

I knew I was precocious...

It wouldn't be so bad in public, really. I could handle that! It's the weeping for 15 minutes at a go that "Moommmmmeeeeeeee, you neeeeeeed to slide the stool over to the toiiiiiiilet!" that gets my goat. Not to mention the fact that at school her teacher can't get her to stop disappearing to the bathroom to do everything on her own. I had to go to school to find out that my child is capable of using handsoap on her own. Waaaaaaah! (Any sympathy yet? How about now? Now? Momeeeeeeeeeeee!!!)

On the plus side, it's good to know the dawdling is apparently genetic and we're stuck with it forever...

As EVERYONE knows, the royal title of "Porcelain Princess" is hereditary. Still no sympathy, my memory is still too clear. :-)
