Why yes, Beaker, I do realize that this is a bit late. Sometimes a gal forgets about her blog for awhile...
One of the things we've decided to do around here in honor of the new year and the fact that we intend to live in this house for a good, long, while is interior design. We've traditionally gone the utilitarian route, and we figure it's about time we arrange our lives like the big kids we are.
Project #1 was the kitchen. It is beautifully sunny, but is also very, very white. In varying shades. I love that it's bright and easy to clean, but hate that it's so barren looking. Consider the following pictures:
We are holding out hope that the landlady's handypersons will find the right hardware to fix the door on that corner cupboard, so it was beyond the scope of the current project. I may have to rectify that...
So, I decided on a color scheme and took the family to a fabric store so that I could get going on curtains. While we were there, Andy found a cool print that we decided to use as well. After a brief setback in which I misplaced my red thread during our move last fall, (I eventually found it in my sewing basket-how weird!) I got busy with the cutting and sewing. As well as getting a few decorative items on clearance at Target. It all took much more time than I expected, but I am extremely pleased with the results.
Behold! The newly improved kitchen!
Feel free to use the comments to tell me just how clever and talented you think I am. ;-)

Let me be the first to tell you that you are indeed clever and talented. The nice thing about a white, white, white room is that you can put in red in lots of splashes to truly revitalize the space.
Are you free to come and decorate my home which is still relatively undecorated after only 18 years here? Maybe it is time to paint some of these drab walls.
You keep showing us new talents. Bravo!!!
Great job - wonderful bright colours, just in the right proportions :)

How clever! How talented! I am in deep love with your kitchen. In fact, I'm a bit jealous of the space... :)
